Bookings for the July School Holiday Workshops will open on Monday 5th June, 2017 at 8.00am.  All bookings must be made through Try Booking (click on the workshop heading to go to the Try Booking website).  Winter Wonderland can be booked via Just Chillin Out Kids, click on the link to be taken to their booking site.  You will need to pay for your workshop when booking.  Places are limited to 10 participants per workshop. If a workshop is full you can go on the wait list by clicking on the wait list button on the booking site.

Children can stay between the sessions to make it a full day and play in the garden / do self guided art activities during the hour in between (EXTRA $10 charge - choose the "between sessions" option when booking).  They will need to bring a lunch box with them. 

There will be a 20 minute break in the middle of all sessions for morning or afternoon tea (provided - please advise of any allergies by emailing me or bring your own snack box).  Morning and afternoon tea consists of a home-baked muffin / cookie, fruit, popcorn, crackers and water.

All art materials and art smocks are provided.


All sessions, with the exception of "Winter Wonderland" are held at the Sunnyside Art House Studio in Bentleigh.  Winter Wonderland will be held at the Brighton Bowling Club.

If you need to cancel please email Fiona at sunnysidearthouse@gmail.com as soon as possible.  Refunds will only be available if at least two weeks notice is given.  A workshop may be cancelled if there is less than 5 participants.  You will be notified and a refund issued.  

Sunnyside Art House is a registered child care provider.  If you require a receipt for claiming the Child Care Benefit please let me know prior to the workshop and I will have one ready for you to collect during the workshop.

WORKSHOP DETAILS AND DATES

Tuesday 4th July 2017, 10.00pm - 12.00pm
Emoji Art, Prep - Grade 6
Who doesn't love Emoji's!  Lot's of yellow in this workshop.  The children will make Emoji pillows out of fabric and paper.  Draw lots of Emoji faces on yellow discs.  Design their own Emoji and colour and draw.  Each child will also make an Emoji stress ball. We will also discuss how to draw different facial expressions and learn a few simple ones that will help not only with Emoji drawing yet drawing faces or cartoons as well.
$30 per child



 
Tuesday 4th July  2017, 1.00pm - 3.00pm
Minions and Despicable Me 3, Prep - Grade 6
It's yellow Tuesday as we move from Emoji's to Minions....
In this workshop the children will be drawing Minions, making Minion softies or heat packs, making minions out of toilet rolls and other materials.  Making Minion finger puppets and Minion rocks.  Finally the children will move onto drawing from the Despicable Me 3 movie drawing all their favourite characters.  Some children may wish to make a Despicable Me 3 mini comic book.
$30 per child





Tuesday 4th July 2017, 3.30pm - 5.00pm
Fun with Snow, Kindergarten to Grade 4
You may not get to the real snow this winter, yet the children can still have fun with it in this fun, not so cold, workshop.  First we will make our own snow using my magic ingredients.  We will make some snowballs out of this and make them fizz..  Next we will make some glitter snow slime, play with it and make it into a melted snowman, using Plasticine to make his hat, arms, nose etc.  Each child will make a mini snow scene in a box.  In the final part of the lesson the children will draw snow scenes using puffy snow paint, oil pastels and chalk pastels.

Wednesday 5th July 2017, 10.00am - 12.00pm  
Sun Catchers - time to catch the winter sun, Prep - Grade 6
These glass mosaic sun catchers are still my most popular blog post ever and I haven't made them in 4 years.  Children will glue glass mosaic gems and pieces to a picture frame that can then be hung in the window with a suction cap.  These look really beautiful with the sun shining through them.  Children will then move onto making other sun catchers out of melted crayon shavings, tissue paper, contact paper, leaves, sequins, doilies and some beaded ones to hang on the window.  
$30 per child






Wednesday 5th July 2017, 1.00pm - 3.00pm  
Washi tape vases with tissue paper & pom pom flowers, Prep to Grade 6
The children will first decorate their vase with washi tape.  They will then make flowers to put in their vase out of tissue paper and pom poms.  They will be taught how to make pom poms using their hands.  If time permits they will also make some wool woven butterflies, gods eyes and do some finger knitting.

$30 per child


Wednesday 5th July, 6.30pm - 8.30pm
POM POM and / or WOOL WALL HANGINGS
A lovely way to spend an evening with your daughter, granddaughter, son or grandson!  In this workshop you will work together to create a pom pom or wool wall hangingTea, Coffee, Hot chocolate and after dinner treats provided.
$40 per pair, $15 for extra child.




Thursday 6th July 2017, 10.00am - 12.00pm
Farm Animals, Drawing and Making, Prep to Grade 4
Inspired by artist Peter Diem, children will learn how to draw cows and goats using oil pastels.  They may also wish to draw other farm animals such as pigs, chickens, horses and ducks.  These will be coloured in using bright colourful oil pastels.  Children will also be able to make farm animals out of cups, toilet rolls, pipe cleaners and other materials.

$30 per child




Thursday 6th July 2017, 1.00pm - 3.00pm
Painted Flower Pots and Van Gogh's Flowers in a Vase painting, Prep to Grade 6
The children will start by painting a plant pot.  This look so lovely on a porch or even inside the house.  Plants will be available for purchase for $4 each.  Children will then paint on a piece of canvas paper a vase with flowers in it.  We will use artist Van Gogh as our inspiration and his famous Sunflowers painting (to coincide with the Van Gogh exhibition now on at the NGV).
$30 per child





Friday 7th July, 10.00am - 12.00pm
Softies and Needle Felting, Grade 3 - Year 7
Children will produce the most adorable softies / teddies / ugly dolls / birds in this workshop. First they cut out their design from felt or use a pre-cut teddy. They then needle felt on the features. They may wish to sew on buttons for eyes etc as well. They then sew them together and stuff them. So cute!  If time permits they will also do some needle felted pictures or small mice.

Three creative local women have joined forces to offer an all day workshop experience not to be missed! Let your child relax and get their creativity flowing in this inspiring workshop combining meditation, movement, art, writing and lots of fun! Fostering creativity and learning to relax will help your child to develop mentally, socially, and emotionally.
There will be lots of goodies to take home at the end of this workshop.
What's provided: Three two hour workshops. Meditation, Art and Creative Writing.  All materials and equipment supplied.  Morning and Afternoon Tea.  Additional activities, drawing, dancing, quiet zones, walks, movie.  
Hosted by Justine Telfer (Just Chillin Out Kids), Fiona Wood (Sunnyside Art House) and Catherine Johnston (Write Here Write Now).
$120 for the day
limited to 30 participants 

Wednesday 12th July, 10.00am - 12.00am
Potions Workshop, Prep to Grade 6
This workshop is for Harry Potter fans and any child that loves making potions.  First we will decorate a potion bottle with tissue paper.  We will also make wands out of sticks, ribbon and glue.  We will make a little potions bowl out of air dry clay and beads.  The children will write out and / or illustrate a potion they made up.  The second half of the lesson the children will make potions out of lots of ingredients (many Harry Potter inspired).  Experimenting, mixing and having lots of fun! 
$30 per child
